 In 2010, I gave up eating meat 3 times a day due to animal cruelty. For years, I lived off boxed, canned, and processed foods. I cut out the junk and leaned into real, whole food. In 2023, I started scanning everything and discovered toxins not just in food—but in toothpaste, lotion, laundry detergent. That’s when I learned plastic comes from petroleum and it’s everywhere. I eliminated it, felt incredible, and knew I had to help others do the same. 

 HIPPIEKIT was originally launched in 2007 from my love for animals and the planet. But in 2023, it found its true purpose. After years of research, trial, and personal transformation, I brought HIPPIEKIT back as a one-stop eco shop—to make it easier for others to discover clean, safe, sustainable alternatives without all the greenwashing. Just real products from small businesses you typically won’t find in big box stores. 

 While my goal was always to go 100% plastic-free, I realized it’s not always possible—yet. Some amazing products still use small plastic parts, like a pump or cap, but they don’t leach toxins and they help people ditch the worst offenders. That’s why I created the Almost No Plastic page—to celebrate progress over perfection, and to give people safer swaps they can feel good about, even if they’re not totally plastic-free.
